NAAEE Cal Water H20 Challenge

On April 2nd, 2015, Shasta Elementary school won a state wide water saving competition that was hosted by Cal Water and the non-profit organization, the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE).

Cal Water and NAAEE are promoting water conservation largely due to the current drought in California. Students at Shasta Elementary put together an innovative system to irrigate the school’s garden using only captured rain water. For their efforts, they were awarded a trip to the Channel Islands. Several weeks later, the class and Eventide Visuals rode along with students and teachers to Santa Cruz Island, an hour off the coast of Ventura, CA. The students participated in hikes and environmental activities that helped to broaden their understanding of the environment and the role that we play in it.

The trip was a ton of fun and we were very happy to be chosen to capture this amazing event!

Funding provided by NAAEE.
